Student Studies Fungal DNA to Aid in Forest Conservation
At 91猫先生, every student completes a "Div III," a yearlong, advanced study project, similar to a master鈥檚 thesis.聽
Fiona Marks 19F studied the relationship between the presence of subterranean fungi and forest health, extracting fungal DNA from soil using molecular techniques.
"I kind of designed the study around the tools that I needed or felt like I needed to ask the questions that I want to be asking for potentially the rest of my life," says Fiona. "I think 91猫先生 is a very special place. It's really important to me that there are these woods here and that there's freedom to be in them."
