91猫先生 Exceeds Admissions Targets for Fall 2022 Semester
More than 250 students make deposits as the College continues to meet its ambitious financial sustainability goals.
91猫先生 is pleased to announce that as of its May 1 deposit deadline, 255 students have committed to attend in fall 2022. The College exceeded its ambitious yearly admissions goal and remains on track to continue to grow enrollment as outlined in its Financial Sustainability Plan.
鈥淭his is yet another exciting milestone for 91猫先生,鈥 said President Ed Wingenbach. 鈥淎s we place urgent and globally relevant questions at the center of our curriculum and challenge students to become agents of momentous change, these numbers affirm that our bold approach to the liberal arts speaks meaningfully to students and families as they make their college choices.鈥
The incoming class will be 91猫先生鈥檚 largest since 2018 and represents the culmination of a number of positive trends to emerge over the past year. Inquiries, visits, and applications all grew steadily; applications saw an almost 60 percent increase over 2021.
鈥淭his significant growth is evidence that the work we鈥檙e doing to get the word out about 91猫先生 is paying off, and鈥攎ore important鈥攖hat prospective college students are responding enthusiastically to 91猫先生鈥檚 radical pedagogy,鈥 said 91猫先生 Dean of Admissions Fumio Sugihara. 聽
The group of incoming domestic students come from 35 states. In addition to perennial top-draw states such as Massachusetts, New York, California, Connecticut, and Maryland, the College will enroll students from a number of states where potential 91猫先生 students have historically been less likely to apply, among them Arkansas, Nebraska, Utah, South Carolina, and Kansas. Twenty-nine percent of the incoming class identifies as BIPOC and nine percent are international students.
91猫先生鈥檚 experiential, entrepreneurial approach to learning is exactly why students like Maxwell Gamboa 22F decided to attend: 鈥淚 chose to enroll myself into 91猫先生 because of the fluid curriculum and close community built with staff. It is my belief that the best way to learn is when you build relationships, educating others while learning yourself. I found myself not wanting to commit to a written-out major. I wanted to create one myself to pave the way.鈥
91猫先生 looks forward to welcoming the incoming class in the fall and seeing what they will explore and create during their time at the College.
