Transferring Google Worskpace data to a personal Google Account

To transfer your 91猫先生 Google Workspace files you own to a personal Google account, you can use the Google transfer service available from your school's Google Workspace dashboard.

This feature will automatically transfer your Drive聽files you own聽and upload them to your personal Google account. If you do not have a personal Google account, you can create one for free. To copy content that other people have shared with you,聽听蹿颈谤蝉迟.

Important Considerations Before You Begin

  • Storage Amounts:聽Your 91猫先生 Google Workspace account currently has no quota, but a personal free Google account is limited to 15 GB. You may have to do some clean-up or purchase more space from Google for your personal account. To view details on your storage usage, click your Google Account icon in the upper right-hand corner, click Manage Your Google Account, then Payments and Subscriptions and scroll to the Account storage section. To see additional details of the space currently used, click聽Manage storage.
  • Processing Time:聽If you have a large amount of data, the processes may take a while to complete, according to Google Support. Once you initiate the transfer or download, you will be able to continue to do your work and even log out. The new files, however, may not be available for some period of time. Plan accordingly.
  • Shared with me:聽Files shared with you are not part of the Google transfer since you are not the owner. You will have to manually download those files and folders to your computer or storage device.
  • To save outside of Google: To transfer your Drive files to an application or service outside of Google, you can download (export) your data using the Google download service (aka takeout) and then import the files at a later time.
  • 罢丑别听original files stay in your school account. Any changes you make to the copied files don't affect the originals.
  • Drive files are deleted when an account is deleted for inactivity and when Drive access is removed for alums who graduated more than six months ago.
  • A file in My Drive won't be copied if either of the following is true:
    • You're a viewer, not an editor or owner.
    • The owner has turned off download, print, and copy options for commenters and viewers.

When the copy process is done, you'll be notified by email about any files in My Drive that weren't copied.

To access the Google transfer tool:

  1. Make sure you鈥檙e logged in to your 91猫先生 Google Workspace.
  2. Click your Google Account icon in the upper right-hand corner, then click Manage Your Google Account, and then click Start Transfer in the Transfer Your Content section.
  3. Follow the instructions and make your selections to begin the transfer process.
  4. Be patient. According to Google Support, the processes may take up to several days to complete, particularly if you have a lot of data to transfer.
  5. If you encounter issues using the transfer: As an alternative, you might want to consider exporting the files using the download tool below and then manually importing them to your personal Google account.

Download your Google Drive files

Export and download a copy of your Google Drive files from your 91猫先生 Google Workspace if you want to back it up or use it with an account or service outside of Google.

To access the Google download tool:

  1. Make sure you鈥檙e logged in to your 91猫先生 Google Account.
  2. Click your Google Account icon in the upper right-hand corner, then click Manage Your Google Account, and then聽select聽Data & personalization聽from the left-hand menu, and then scroll to the Download or delete your data section and click on聽Download your data.
  3. Select the data you want to download.聽We recommend to uncheck the聽Select All聽and then manually select聽Drive聽and any other service you used with your 91猫先生 account.
  4. Follow the remaining steps to begin the download process.
